The In-Harmony System “Seal of Approval” can be used to designate products that have been found to safe for the environment and as such may be disposed of through either solid waste decomposition or by gray water distribution.  This designation is designed for use by general public with little or no understanding of scientific or environmental background to make a decision regarding usage and disposal

  5. Help users to identify a safe product for the environment


All products used within the In-Harmony System must have certification, whether created inside the City or imported.  Products to submit to the following procedure:

  1. Submittal of Application that shall include
    1. Chemical Analysis
    2. Labeling of Product and ingredients
    3. Amount of energy required to produce product.
    4. Identification of the Source of materials and whether it is re-cycled
    5. Design for the “End of Life” pattern
    6. Positioning of HIS “Seal of Approval”
    7. Instructions as needed
  2. Laboratory Testing for decomposition in treatment plants, mulch centers and soil
  3. Marketing and Distribution Plans
    1. Target User
    2. Distribution Pattern
    3. Packaging and Distribution Plan
  4. Approval by Certification Committee


All products must be listed in one of the following categories:

  1. General Purpose Cleaning Products
  2. Anti-bacterial Cleaning Products
  3. Personal Grooming Products
  4. Personal Hygiene Products
  5. Kitchen and Restaurant Cleaning Products
  6. Bathroom and Toilet Cleaning Products
  7. Industrial Cleaning Products, Solvents & Lubricants
  8. Laundry System Products
  9. Office Products- Inks, Toners, Correction Fluids


Products that do allow for general waste disposal and decomposition shall be placed in this special category and receive labeling that indicates special waste treatment and processing are required.

  1. Acidic Products
  2. Highly Alkaline
  3. Toxic Products
  4. Eutrophication Products
  5. Photo-Chemical smog producers
  6. Stratospheric Ozone Depleting Products
  7. Global Warming Products – CO2, NO2, N2O, CH4, CFCs, HCFCs, CH2Br
